Make sure that you do not cover your outdoor components with grass clippings when you are trimming the grass. Aim the grass clippings in the other direction. Also do this when blowing leaves or shoveling snow.

When the leaves start to fall, the HVAC equipment can be harmed. Be sure to clean your fan grill frequently when trees nearby are shedding. The fan must be unobstructed to work properly, and if it becomes blocked, it could cause your system to break down.

Many homeowners forget to oil their condenser at least once per year, but it is required. Such ports tend to have coverings made of rubber or metal. Use a lightweight oil and do not overfill them.

Have your HVAC serviced at least yearly. Checks in the spring as well as in autumn are the best. This type if preventative maintenance is highly necessary to ward off any expensive troubles from coming your way.

Having a programmable thermostat installed is a money saving idea. In fact, you can save as much as 10 percent on both heating and cooling when you turn your thermostat by by 10-15 percent for at least 8 hours daily. Plus, some models allow you to control them over the internet or from a smartphone.

In order to keep energy costs down, make sure heating and cooling systems are services at least once per year. When they visit to service the unit they’re going to inspect the motors, oil the parts that move, and see how much freon is in your system. These easy to do things are going to allow your system to run its best.

When you are away from home, adjust your thermostat to a money saving temperature. Even though the house will get hotter, it won’t get too bad if the unit is off. Leaving the system on all day will cost a lot of money in terms of electricity.
